What a small shop website actually needs
Five things that bring people into a shop or into your WhatsApp, and three you can safely leave for later.

Most shop owners who ask us for a website want the same thing: more people walking in, or messaging to order. A website helps with that in a few specific ways, and everything else is decoration.
1. Answer the three questions people search for
Before anyone visits a shop they want to know three things. Do you have what I need? Are you open? How do I get there? Put your products or services, your timings and a map where people see them straight away, and most of the work is done.
2. Make contacting you one tap
Most of your customers will open your site on a phone. A WhatsApp button with a first message already typed, and a call button next to it, turn a visitor into a conversation. A contact form on its own is too slow for a shop.
3. Use real photos
Your actual shelves, counter and staff do more than stock images ever will. Photos taken on a recent phone in daylight are good enough.
4. Show up on Google
For a local shop, two things matter most. A Google Business Profile with the right category, hours and photos, and a website whose page title and text say what you sell and where. Link each one to the other.
5. Load fast on mobile data
If a page takes more than a few seconds to appear, people leave before they see anything. Keep images compressed and skip heavy sliders and pop-ups.
What you can leave for later
- A blog, unless someone will write for it.
- An online store, unless you are ready to pack and ship orders.
- A long history of the business. One short paragraph about who runs the shop is plenty.
All three can be added later. We built the Shop Starter offer around exactly this list: one fast page, your products, WhatsApp, Maps and local search, from ₹10,000.

Do you still need a website if you are on Instagram?
Instagram and a website do different jobs. One helps people see you, the other helps them find and choose you.
Pricing
What a website costs in India, and what you are paying for
Quotes for the same website can run from ₹5,000 to ₹5 lakh. Here is what sits inside the number, how we price ours, and the costs people forget to ask about.
